Gibsonville-Dula Mae Shearin Cook Hester, 86 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 14, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Franklin County and the daughter of the late James Albert and Margaret Hazel Winstead Shearin.
Dula retired as an Insurance Underwriter. She was a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church where she served in various capacities at the church during her lifetime. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Dula is survived by her sons, Terry Lee Cook and wife, Barbara and Ricky Allan Cook; grandchildren, Chrissie (Jason) Hinton, Allan (Taylor) Cook, Eric (Liza) Cook and Caitlin Cook; great grandchildren, Aiden Hinton, Brady Hinton, Aley Cook, Lenox Cook, McKinley Cook, Dalton Cook and Kruz Cook; sisters, Sue McBride and husband, Sammy, Linda Heyworth and husband, Butch and Bonnie Gerner; brothers, Eugene Shearin and wife, Helen and Bill Shearin; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Lee Cook and Calvin Eugene Hester; sisters, Virginia Lee Shearin Hall, Daphne Kinley and Ann Boggs; brothers, Benny Shearin and Ned Shearin.
A Celebration of life Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Peace Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from
9:45-10:45am prior to the service at the church. The burial will follow in the Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home at other times.
The family would like to thank you her caregivers, Grace Underwood and Margaret Harris and the staff and nurses of Authoracare Hospice and for their compassionate care for Dula.
