Dr. Stamps

Burlington - Dr. Dan "Danny" K. Stamps, 57 of 2323 May Dr. passed away Saturday May 26, 2012 at Duke University Hospital. He was born July 28, 1954 in Alamance County to the late William Earlie and Mabel Sykes Stamps. He earned his undergraduate degree at UNC Chapel Hill, then he attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN and his masters Degree from UNC Chapel Hill. Dan owned and operated Better Vision Center and Fayetteville Optometric Eye Center. He was a member of the American Optometric Association, North Carolina Optometric Association, the American Health Association, Beta Sigma Kappa National Optometric Honor Fraternity and a Fellow American Academy of Optometry. He was also member in AOA, American Optometric Association, NC State Optometric Society, APHA, FAAO, Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, Former Member of the Fayetteville Rotary Club, Board of Health Cumberland County and Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his brother William Terry Stamps of Burlington, a niece Amy Adams, nephews Brian Stamps and Chris Stamps, grand nieces: Bethany Adams, Savanna Stamps, Brianna Stamps grand nephews: Logan Stamps and Blake Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Darrell Massey. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. and at other times at the home in Burlington, NC.
