Dr. Jerry Walter McCant, 73, of Laurel Ridge Dr. passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015. A native of Macon, GA, he was the son of the late Walter and Maxie Bryant McCant and husband of Priscilla Bradshaw McCant who survives. Dr. McCant was a retired Nazarene minister and a retired professor at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA. He received his Bachelor's Degree at Treveca Nazarene University, his Master's of Divinity at the Nazarene Theological Seminary, his Master's of Divinity Exchange and his PhD at Emory University in Atlanta. He authored several books and commentaries. Survivors include his wife, Priscilla Bradshaw McCant of the home; daughter, LaDonna Dickey and husband Jeff; son, Jonathan McCant and wife Ricki all of San Diego, CA.; step son Dennis Turner and wife Patricia of Elon; grandchildren, Wednesday McCant, Ace Jackson McCant, Lucy Rogue McCant and Stephanie Turner; sisters, Sibil Odom and husband Bart of Macon, GA and Jeanell Moon of Warner Robbins, GA; brother, Rodney McCant and wife Wernell of Gray County, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, May 21, 2015 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Darrel Kroeze. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Dr. McCant will remain at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home.
