Julian Mrs. Dovie Violet Barber Clapp, 93, formerly of Holts Store Road, died on Monday, December 24, 2007 at Serenity Care in Greensboro. She was born in Alamance County, daughter of the late Rudy Russell and Annie Ingle Barber and was married for 61 years to the late Roy Everett Clapp who died in 1992. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Annie Lee and Hobert Apple of Julian, Peggy Darnell and Jimmy May of Whitsett, and Brenda Kay and Melvin Hutchens of Gibsonville; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Alvin and Martha Clapp of Julian; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; son, Edward Clapp; grandson, Eddie Dwayne Clapp; sisters, Bessie Clapp, Evelyn Andrews, Thelma Rice and Lavonna Huggins; and brothers, Ted, Raymond and Garland Barber. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ by Rev. Lloyd Spencer with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Serenity Care for the loving care given to their mother. Memorials may be made to Mt. Hope United Church of Christ, 2400 Mt.
