Yanceyville, NC Douglas Wayne Gregory, 67 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2013. He was a native of Person County and the son of the late Herman Hessie Gregory and Dorothy Rudd Gregory. Wayne was employed with Gregory Pallet Company for many years before retiring from Chandler Concrete. He served during the Vietnam War with the 1st Calvary Division of US Army from 1966 -67. Wayne died in Virginia on his final trip to the Vietnam Wall to show his passion for our fallen American heroes and his comrades in arms. He made this pilgrimage to the Wall each year over the course of his life. Wayne often said "all gave some but some gave all." Survivors include his brothers, Herman Thomas Gregory of Yanceyville and Maynard Gregory and wife, Lois of Elon and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Henry Michael Gregory and Peter Steven Gregory, Sr. The family wishes to publicly acknowledge Dr. Wendy Henderson, Barbara Gregory and Peggy Lambert for all their exceptional and loving care provided over the past 5 years of Wayne's declining health. A special thank you to Timmy Wrenn for his friendship and regular visits which brought such pleasure to Wayne over the past several years. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery by Pastor Chuck Perkins and Pastor Craig Cox. The family will receive friends following the service at the church and other times at the home of his brother, Maynard Gregory. Military honors will be provided by the 82nd Airborne Division at the graveside. Memorials may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, 4200 Morganton Road, Suite, 300, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
