Burlington – Douglas “Doug” Roland Linnens, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 22, 2023. He was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late John and Ethel Guthrie Linnens. He was the husband of 70 years to Annie Sykes Linnens who died in 2019.
Doug retired as a shipping manager in the Trucking Industry. He was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church where he served for many years as an usher. Doug was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard and reading. Doug was a UNC “Tarheel” fan and enjoyed spending time with family and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Vann of Burlington; grandchildren, Jason Vann (Edith) and Stephanie Horth (Justin), Alyssia Ayala, Deanna Ayala, Tony Ayla,Jr. (Tammy), Tina Ayala and Miguel Ayala; great grandchildren, Christian Horth, Bridget Vann, Madeline Vann, Jade Ayala and Audi Romero; son-in-law, Tony Ayala, all of Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Annie Dare; daughter, Anita Ayala; son-in-law, Livvie W. Vann and grandson, Frank Ayala and brothers Max (Anne) and Gus (Ruby).
A Graveside service to Celebrate Doug's life will be held on Friday, September 29. 2023 at 2PM at Linwood Cemetery in Graham. Military honors will be provided by the US Army National Guard.
