Dorothy Gray Wells

Dorothy Rebecca Gray Wells, was born on November 14, 1932 and passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in law Kathy W. York and Melvin M. York Jr. (Buddy) Thursday November 10^th with both of them by her side.

She was the daughter of Huey and Verla Hensley. Dot started her career at Western Electric when she was 22 yrs. old and retired 42 years later.

She was formerly married to the late Stevie E. Wells.

Dot’s greatest pleasure in life was her family, working in her yard, her flowers, her fur babies and life’s simple pleasures. Dot was a member of Glen Raven Baptist Church, and attended Faith Methodist Church where her Grandfather Rev. Wade Loy was a founding member. Dot had a deep faith in “The Man Upstairs”.

Dot is survived by her daughter Kathy W. York (Buddy), her brother Larry A. Barnes, her very special niece Sherry Lynn Puckett, her nephews Melvin (Todd) Puckett (Wendy)  and Robert C. Munn, great nieces Macie and Lillian (Lilly) Munn, and great-great niece Legend, her loyal chihuahua Tina who was her constant companion and guard dog, her Shi- Tzu Benji, and fur grand dogs, Bulatti and Coco Chanel.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Steven Keith Wells, former husband Stevie E. Wells and sister Christine Sue Puckett.

Kathy and Buddy wish thank Authoracare staff and especially CNA Jordan Moore for her tender and loving care to our mother.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. prior to the service at 2:00pm at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Sarah Small officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The service may be viewed via live steaming on our website below.
