Dorothy Toney

Elon - Dorothy Hawk Toney, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Hospice Home. A native of Alamance County, she was born August 28, 1928 to the late Jessie James Hawk and Annie Williamson Hawk and was the wife of 50 years to the late Daniel David Toney, Sr.
Dorothy was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed flower gardening, bingo, working outdoors and listening to all kinds of music. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her sons, Gary Crouse and wife Maria of Elizabeth, NJ, Jan Toney of Mebane; daughter, Tyra Mann and husband Dennis of Burlington; stepsons, Daniel David Toney, Jr., Ronnie Toney and Jerry Toney, all of Burlington; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and sisters, Donna Myers and husband Ernie and Deloris Wright. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sons, Gregory and Floyd Crouse and a sister, Debra Dunbar.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held 3:00pm on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Pine Hill Cemetery with Pastor Darrell Massey officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at her home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
