Dorothy Cole Coble Parks, 90, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Alamance County to the late Thomas and Nelli Cole Coble and was the wife of 71 years to Carl Franklin Parks who died December 22, 2010. Dorothy was the co-owner of Cum-Park Plaza along with her husband, Carl. She was a member of the Burlington Assembly of God and was a graduate of Elon College that is now, Elon University. Survivors include her son, Carl Christopher Chris Parks; her sister, Rebecca Ruth Cummings; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Katie Riggan, Carol McBroom, Vicky Davis, Mary Walker and Lynn Warren. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Meredith Parks Joyner; parents; sister, Louise Coble. The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Burlington Assembly of God by Rev. Howard Thompson, Rev. Brian Rainbow and Rev. Michael Brown with burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 1:45pm Tuesday prior to the service at the church and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215, Salvation Army, 812 N. Anthony St., Burlington, NC 27217 or to the Childrens Home Society of NC, P.O. Box 14608 Greensboro, NC 27415.
