Dorothy McCauley

Dorothy Varner Dot McCauley, 93, formerly of NC 62 North, died on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields in Mebane after a critical illness of two weeks. She was born in Guilford County, daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Mamie Lynch Varner and was married to the late C. R. Jack McCauley, Jr. She was a homemaker and a member of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Jim Whitlow of Burlington and Beverly and Nello Barbee of Graham; son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Carol McCauley of Graham; grandchildren, Dawne Lee, Todd Forbis, Claudia Pope, Wendy Byrd and Jacqueline McCauley; step grandsons, Jeff Kirchbaun and Tray Barbee; 8 great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; sisters, Helen Bennett and Nina Apple, both of Gibsonville and a brother, Leroy Varner of Gibsonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Betty Lou Varner, Christine Foust and Ruth Varner, and a brother, J. C. Varner. The funeral will be held at 11:00 Friday, February 3, 2006 at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church by Rev. Tempe Fussell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of Jane and Jim Whitlow, 2348 Pleasant Grove School Rd., Burlington or at the home of Beverly and Nello Barbee, 548 Woodland Dr., Graham.
