Dorothy "Dot" Rudd Sims King, 85, of 414 Atwater St. passed away Tuesday, September 07, 2010 at White Oak Manor. Mrs. King was born August 28, 1925 in Alamance County to the late James Madison and Girlie Lee Murray Rudd. She was married to the late Elmo Sims, Sr. and the late Billy J. King. Dot retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of the Lowe Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Elmo Sims and his wife, Hilda of Burlington, Roger L. Sims and his wife, Celia of Burlington; a daughter, Karen Barlett of Raleigh and her special friend, Reggie Gray of Roxboro; two step-children, Pasty Clapp and David King; grandchildren, Michael Sims and his wife, Randi, Leigh Anne Sims, and Brian Miles; a great grandchild, Kayleigh Miles, sister-in-law, Rutherie Rudd of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, by her husbands, a son, Ricky D. Sims, three brothers, Frank Rudd, James Rudd, and Norman Rudd; and three sisters, Gladys Rudd, Evelyn Chambers, and Maidie Williford. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Kimble officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
