Dorothy Johnson

Mrs. Dorothy Smith Johnson, age 89, formerly of Trail Three, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Homeplace of Burlington after several months of failing health. Born in Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late J. Fletcher Smith, Sr. and the late Virgie Lineberry Smith and was married for over 45 years to Troy B. Johnson, who died in 1993. Mrs. Johnson retired from Alamance Community College after several years of service and was a longtime member of People's Memorial Christian Church. Mrs. Johnson is survived by two sisters, Elsie Bentley of Archdale and Shirley Earl Bentley of Burlington; three brothers, Harvey Margaret Smith of Burlington, Fred Helen Smith of Liberty and Ernest Rose Marie Smith of Pleasant Garden; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Katy Byrd, and two brothers, Jack Smith and J.F. Smith, Jr. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Shields. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 10:45 AM Tuesday morning prior to the service at the funeral home.
