Dorothy Greene

Mrs. Dorothy Lynch Greene, age 91, of Elon, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Liberty Commons after several months of failing health. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mike Hooper. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home and others times at her home. Born in Orange County, she was the daughter of the late Zebulon Hamlet Lynch and the late Alma Hodge Lynch and was married to the late Lee Scott Greene, who died in 1993. Dorothy was formerly employed with Standard Supply Company and was a member of Beverly Hills United Church of Christ for 62 years, where she served as the secretary of the Official Board, was a member of the church choir and very active in the Women's Fellowship. She was a volunteer with the Alamance County election board for many years. Dorothy loved to travel, enjoyed her pets and was a devoted Tar Heel fan. Mrs. Greene is survived by her three daughters, Gayle G. Moore and her husband, Jerry, of Winston-Salem, Vickie G. Marshall of Philadelphia and Dottie G. Inge and her husband, Steve, of Gibsonville; six grandchildren, Guye Lee Moore, Nicole M. Davis, Ashley G. Marshall, Hope Marshall Boccella, Jared Inge and Megan Inge Siernos; five great grandchildren and another due in June; two sisters, Estelle Willard of Elon and Grace Holt of Mebane; and a brother, Jack Lynch of Elon. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a sister, Betty Bowman.
