Dorothy Conklin

Burlington, NC Dorothy Klein Rice Conklin, age 76, who lived for many years in the communities of Haw River and Mebane but recently moved with her husband to the Cedar Ridge Retirement Community on South Mebane Street in Burlington. She passed away on Monday, January 21, 2008 at Alamance Regional Medical Center and was a native of Cleveland, Ohio and the wife of John Randall Conklin who survives. Dorothy was employed for many years as a registrar for a Medical School and she was of the Methodist Faith. She received her doctorate in the field of music and was a percussionist with her primary instrument the Marimba. Survivors include her husband, John Randall Conklin of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Bohne and her husband, Joseph of Alpine, Wyoming; sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen Rice of Cambridge, Massachusetts and Jeffrey Rice and his wife, Evelyn of Ft. Lupton, Colorado; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Martin Klein and Edna Mae Hoffman Klein and her two sisters. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at the Cedar Ridge Retirement Community in the Activity Room. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the donors favorite charity.
