Doris Willetts

Mrs. Mary Doris Blanton Willetts, age 71, of 6784 Keansburg Rd., went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 6:57 AM at Wesley Long Community Hospital after several months of failing health. Born in Horry county, SC, she was the daughter of the late D.M. Blanton and the late Dorothy Cox Blanton and was married for over 43 years to Mr. Allen Willetts, who survives. Doris graduated from McLeod School of Nursing in Florence, SC and later became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists after graduating from Wake Forest School of Medicine. She retired from Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital after serving as a CRNA for 35 years. Mrs. Willetts is survived by her husband of the home; a daughter, Trish Willetts Willard and her husband, Kenny, of Gibsonville; two grandchildren, Alli Willard and Ashlyn Willard; a sister, Davie Jean Shafer and her husband, Robin;a nephew, Kevin Shafer, all of Loris, SC; and special loved ones, Janet Higgins and Myra Long. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Becky Bellamy. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 PM Sunday, January 17, 2009 at Lebanon Baptist Church in Greensboro. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington from 6-8 Saturday evening and other times at the home.
