Burlington, NC Doris Waynick May, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late Wallace Page May, Jr.. Doris was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she served over the years as an Elder, choir member and Moderator for Women of the Church. She was the Sunday school teacher for the Doris May Class and received the Presbyterian Women Honorary Lifetime Membership. Doris volunteered 4 days each week in the church office until the Lord called her home. She was a talented cook and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her daughters, Melba May Kiser of Bessemer City, NC; Suzanne May Scott and her husband, Earl Scott, Jr. of Burlington and Cynthia May Stephens of Raleigh; grandchildren, Michael Craig Kiser, Elizabeth Page Kiser, Justin Matthew Stephens, Joshua Aaron Stephens, Leslie Carole Stephens, Samantha Scott Bolick and her husband, Cassen Bolick. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Jesse Staley Waynick and Lucy Adelaide Williamson Waynick and sister, Pearl Waynick Collins. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church by the Rev. C. Powell Sykes and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the church and other times at the home. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1126 W. Webb Avenue, Burlington, NC 27217.
