Doris Kimrey

Burlington Doris Tillman Mitchell Kimrey, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Liberty Commons after several months of failing health. She was born in Alamance County and was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma Tillman. She was married for 30 years to the late Charles Allen Mitchell and 20 years to the late Lonnie Hassel Kimrey. Mrs. Kimrey was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church. Doris was a loving, beautiful and graceful woman. Her quick witted humor kept us all laughing and those memories we will cherish. She was adored by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Kimrey loved her family, her sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. She loved to sit and talk about "old times" and no one ever left her presence without hearing "I love you." She is survived by her daughter, Yolanda (Vance-"her favorite son-in-law") Evans of Burlington; son, Alan Mitchell of Elon; grandchildren, Michael (Tara) Evans, Jennifer (Shane) Fletcher, Matthew (Meredith) Mitchell, Autumn (Kevin Womack) Mitchell; great grandchildren, Corey, Maddisen, Callie, Parker, Malorie, Crystlin, Maddox, Hunter, Kennedy, Tiffany and Caleb; sister, Ann Tillman (Jerry) Sharpe of Burlington and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, sister, Annie Mae Tillman and brothers, Luke, Maurice, Manuel Richard and Carl Tillman. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Chad Tucker and Rev. Rodger Roach with interment to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 1:45 PM Friday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, Yolanda Evans.
