Doris Godwin

Doris Ellen Somers Godwin, 88, passed away Monday, September 21, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Alamance County to the late Herman Alexander Somers, Sr. and Beulah Jane Wrenn Somers. She was a former employee with the Dairy Castle and was a member of Ossipee Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Richard Overman, Darline S. Harrell, Gordon Godwin and fiance, Deborah Ritchie; grandchildren, Jeffrey Harrell, Karen Goodson, Derek Godwin and Benjamin Harrell; great grandchildren, Mark Goodson, Cory Goodson, Jordan Harrell, Ryan Harrell and Faith Godwin; step great granddaughters, Maddie and Maggie Moeller. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herman "H.A." Somers, Jr., Paul Somers, Ervin "Bid" Somers; infant brother, Ralph Somers; sisters, Bonnie Huskey, Marie Bunn and Shirley Gay. Doris was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she will be missed dearly. Our mothers' wishes were to have a simple service at the grave with no visitation. The graveside service will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Jerry Johnson. The family will be at the residence.
