Dora Tirado

Elon - Dora Almodovar Tirado, 92, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Puerto Rico on September 3, 1924 to the late Juan and Lucy Baez Almodovar and was the wife of the late Juan John Tirado and of Angelo Luis Rodriguez Lozado who survives.
Dora was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing BINGO, knitting, dancing and listening to Salsa music on Saturdays. She also enjoyed talking on the phone to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of the home, Angelo Lozado; daughter, Zoraida Tirado; grandchildren, Jennifer Jennings and husband Paul Quintero, Robert Jennings, Thais Vander Horst and husband Michael Bartley; great grandchildren, Victoria Jennings, Samantha Jennings, Barry Bartley, Jr., Treyvon Bartley; great great grandchild, Marcos Wilfredo Jennings-Quintero; sisters, Judy Rodriguez and husband Juan, Francis Mons and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Juan John Tirado; sons, John John Tirado, Wilfredo Tirado, Sr., Romeo Tirado; daughter, Carmen Tirado-Rodriguez; grandson, Joseph Rodriguez, Wilfredo Tirado, Jr. and sisters, Antonia Almodovar and Haydee Pereira.
A funeral mass to celebrate her life will be held 11:00am on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Rev. Briant Cullinane, OFM Conv with the burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7pm on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
