Dora Jean Shular Oliver, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Liberty Commons. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late William Albert Shular and Margaret Beatrice Shular and was married for over 61 years to Howard Vance Oliver who passed in 2021.
Dora was a faithful member of Baptist Temple where she attended for many years. She enjoyed being a part of the Silver Sneakers Club at the YMCA, making sure she kept a clean car, visits from her fur-grandbabies but most of all she loved spending time with and cooking for her family.
Dora is survived by her daughters; Teresa Roney and husband Kevin, son; Darrell Oliver and wife Christy, grandchildren; Jessica Roney-Barefield and husband Alex, Justin Oliver and wife April, Jordan Oliver, great grandchildren; Jackson, Madilyn, Carolina and Nevaeh, sisters; Mary Gregory, Betty Webster, Marie Howard, Norma Pratt and Bernice Johnson, brother; William A. Shular, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband; Howard Vance Oliver, daughter; Shelby Jean Jacobs and parents; William and Margaret Shular.
A service to celebrate Dora’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, July 14, 2023 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 prior to the service on Friday.
