Burlington – Donnie Leon Oakley, 75, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 16, 1949 in Caswell County to the late Dewey Clarence Oakley and Ella Savannah Kimbro Oakley and was the husband of 28 years to Patricia “Sue” Barbour Oakley who died in 2022.

 Leon retired with 20 years in the NC Department of Transportation and formerly worked as an independent Milk delivery Driver for Pine State Creamery. He was a member of Faith Christian Church. He enjoyed attending the Gathering on Wednesday nights at the church and spending time at Oakview Country Store with his buddies. Leon enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking the great grandchildren to the pond and riding his 4-wheeler and with his dog, “Ivey” by his side. Leon loved spending time with family, especially his great grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed. Leon was an avid DUKE fan!

 Survivors include his children, Chris Oakley (Dyana Gorman) and Donnie Oakley and wife Tonya; grandchildren, Brian Fields and wife, Amber, Christopher Oakley and wife, Tracy, Kyle Oakley and wife, Brittany, Taylor Langley and husband, Bryan, D. J. Oakley and fiancé,Camie Williams, Tammy Lim and husband Johnny, Pansy Hawes and husband Tom, Sam Overstreet (Wendy Fuller),Tiffany Terry and husband, Matt, Christian Lim, Jasmine Merritt husband Matt, Chelsea Lord (Rob) Brittany Powell and husband Cameron, and Brent Overstreet; great grandchildren, James Fields, Conner Fields, Landon Oakley, Cheyann Oakley, Colton Oakley, Brantley Oakley, Kayteeann Oakley, Tristan Langley, Bentley Langley, Keaton Langley, Cai Williams, Jaydyn Lim, Gabrielle Lim, Maximus Terry, Jaxxon Terry, Zane Terry, Avlon Merrit, Beatrice Bertram, Lincoln Powell, Leia Powell; brother, Richard “Buck” Oakley and wife, Brenda; sister, Mary Lillian Reagan; his canine companion, Ivey and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, siblings, Sonny Oakley, William Oakley and Jeanette Talley. 

 A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, September 7, 2024 a Faith Christian Church by Rev. Reid Dickens and burial will follow at the Oakley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
