Donnie Herndon

Donnie Lynn Herndon, 63 of Burlington passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Hospice Home. He was born in Alamance County and was the son of the late Robert Anderson and Brona Virginia Smith Herndon. He was married for 18 years to Suzanne McMinn Herndon who survives. Donnie was a 1969 graduate of Williams High School and retired from AT&T after 33 years of service. He was a volunteer firefighter and the fourth charter member at the Cherry Grove Volunteer Fire Department. Donnie was a member of Bethel Christian Church and the U.S. Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife of the home, son, Robert Chad Christy Herndon of Elon; granddaughters, Hailey Nicole Herndon and Carley Shea Herndon and a brother, Robert Wayne Herndon of Myrtle Beach, SC. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Bethel Christian Church by Rev. Barry Lane with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home of his son.
