Donnie Carter

Whitsett - Donnie Ray Carter, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Brian Center in Yanceville. He was born in Rockingham County on December 9, 1935 to the late Columbus Franklin and Zelma Ann Thomas Carter and was the husband of 39 years to Judith Ann Strader Carter of the home.
Donnie was a member of First Baptist Church Whitsett. He enjoyed farming, fishing and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of the home; daughters, Michelle C. Hodges and husband Jerry, Delores C. Wilson and husband Jim, Angela C. Childress; son, Brian F. Carter and wife Amber; brother, Ronald Carter and wife Pam; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Priscilla Lane Carter and brothers, Thomas "Ted" Carter and Richard Carter.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tim Stevens with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the brother, Ronald Carter's home at 6913 Burlington Rd. in Whitsett.
A special thanks to the nurses at the Alamance House, Brian Center in Yanceville and Hospice for their excellent care during Donnie's illness.
