BURLINGTON- Donald William Ward, age 74, of 124 Tarpley St., passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Rockingham County, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilbert and Mildred Lucas Ward. He was retired from Dixie Belle Textiles in Gibsonville. Donald was a member of Victory Baptist Church where he played the organ and piano and was involved in the singing in their rest home ministries. He was formerly a member of Piedmont Baptist Church where he was the choir director for 10 years. Survivors include his twin brother, Arnold Ward Joyce of Burlington, sisters, Hilda Holbrook of Burlington, Sandra Williams Ray of Haw River, his favorite aunt, Lena Terrell of Gibsonville, nieces and nephews, Danny Ashley, Tina Ashley, Rhonda Ward, Michelle Jefferson, Cassie Roberts, Shea Foster and Jeremy Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Ronald Wayne Ward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 31, 2013 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Donnie Moorefield, Rev. J.W. Melvin and Rev. Bobby Fann. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Lowe Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of his sister, Sandra Williams, 3664 S. NC 119, Haw River.
