Donald Paul Ward, 86, of Burlington went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 28, 2016. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Earl Kenneth Ward and Mary Jewell Diggs Ward and was married for almost 65 years to Bette M. Ward, who survives. Don retired from Lucent Technologies after 37 years of service. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the Alamance Senior Men's Golf. He was U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Bette M. Ward, daughters, Cathie Ward Denney (Howard), Patty Ward Mitchell; son, Raymond Ward; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Donna W. Cornatzer, son-in-law, Allen Cornatzer, brother, Kenneth Ward and sister-in-law, Lois Ward.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday at St. Luke's United Methodist Church by Pastor Tommy Privette. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:45 PM Wednesday prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
