Donald Smith

Elon-Donald P. Smith, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Hospice Home. He was the husband of 49 years to Linda Faulkner Smith who survives.
Donald retired from Alamance Burlington School System. He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth worker and sang in the ensemble group. Donald was a loving and devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Linda F. Smith of the home; son, Brian Smith and wife, Anna of Graham; daughter, Karen Hoover and husband, George of Mebane; grandchildren, Jessie Hoover, Jakob Hoover, Kanaan Hoover, Kalynn Hoover and Lauren McAdams; great grandchildren, Bella Goggins, Finn Goggins and Kinsley Hutchins; brother, Paul Wayne Smith and wife, Judy of Raleigh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Freely Paul Smith and Ruby Hazel Cockman Smith.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Harvest Baptist Church by Pastor Larry Lamberth and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45 pm prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.
