Burlington-Donald Lynn Rumple, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of the late Linda Garmon Rumple. Donald worked for many years with Guilford Mills. He was a US Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War receiving service connected disability as a result of his service. Donald was awarded an Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service. He enjoyed landscaping and woodworking and spending time with family. Survivors include his daughters, Jodie Rumple Cook and husband, Roger of Bessemer City and Carrie Rumple Hyde and husband, Jason of Reidsville; grandchildren, Hillary Cook, Bailey Cook, Jenna Kirkland and Emily Kirkland; sisters, Jill Fox of Raleigh and Stephanie Oakley and husband, Bobby of Rougemont; brothers, Richard Rumple and wife, Sue of Graham, Terry Rumple of Atlanta, Georgia and James Rumple and wife, Frances of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, George Clarence and Juanita Ward Rumple; grandson, Corey Wayne Rivers; sisters, Wanda Willets and Brenda Willoughby. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Edsel Caviness and the burial will follow with military honors at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:45-12:45 pm on Tuesday prior to the service.
