Donald Lee Roe

Donald Lee Roe was born on Friday June 13, 1930. Don left this life on April 14, 2023 at the age of 92. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Ann Loborec Roe; his parents, Berton Peter Roe and Bertha Flaman Roe of Salina, KS; and his brothers, Bert, Fred, and James; and sisters Nona, Dorothy, Anna and Linnadale. He is survived by his step children, Jack of Burlington NC and Carol of Port Charlotte FL; and children, Vickie, Janette, Michael, and Kathy; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Salina (Kansas) High School in 1949 and served in the US Army (1951-1953).

He enjoyed square-dancing and he and Ann served as officers of the Hitch-N-Go Square-dance camping club. He enjoyed puttering in his workshop. He was a member of the Golden Ears Disney Retirement Club enjoying their monthly lunches. Don was also a member of the Elks and the Moose clubs in Kissimmee FL. He was the Moose pancake chef at their monthly breakfasts. He enjoyed going to both clubs weekly where he would get together with his buddies and they would drink beer and sit around arguing sports and swapping stories.

Whenever asked, he would gladly share his experiences working security at Disney World. He hired with Disney prior to the opening in 1971 and retired in 1992. He was proud to be a cast member at Disney World.

Don loved baseball. He played in High School and in the Army. He was considered by a minor league team but that was interrupted by his draft into the Army. Later Don coached Little League baseball. He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed watching ball games.

There will be a private service at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Don will be interred with his parents at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina, KS.
