Donald "Don" Lee Cox

Burlington – Donald “Don” Lee Cox, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.  He was born on August 19, 1933 in Alamance County to the late Zebulon Craig Cox, Sr. and Josephine Smith Cox, and was the husband of 58 years to Rachel Berrier Cox who survives.

   Don was the owner and operator of Cox Toyota for over 50 years. He was in the first graduating class of Williams High School and a 1956 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill. He came to know the Lord through Intervarsity Christian Fellowship during his years at UNC. He was an avid “Tar Heel” fan. Don was a member of The Burlington Assembly of God. His greatest joys in life were his precious grandchildren, selling cars and telling people about Jesus!

   Survivors other than his wife, Rachel include his daughters, Elisabeth Cox Cox and husband Rusty, Rebecca Cox Lennon and husband Bill, Jr., Deanna Cox Moore and husband Chris; grandchildren, Adam Cox, Emily Cox, Rachel Lennon, Jackson Lennon, Caleb Lennon, Madison Moore and Brayden Moore; brothers, Craig Cox, Jr. and wife Judy, Mike Cox and wife, Linda; and a sister, Delores Browning.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

   The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Bryan Rainbow with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
