Burlington, NC Donald Tubby Wayne Dabbs, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 52 years to Greta Sue Dabbs who survives. Donald was employed by GE in Mebane for over 22 years and was of the Baptist faith. Donald was a train enthusiast and his passion was model railroading. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Greta Sue Dabbs of the home; daughters, Penny Hatch and her husband, Jim of Burlington, Lisa Newcomer and her husband, Danny of Snow Camp and Tracy Madden and her husband, Brian of Burlington; grandchildren, Kevin Ashley Newcomer of Hendersonville, Nicholas Newcomer of Snow Camp, Tiffany Jamie Kerr of Snow Camp, Tabitha Hatch, Rachel Hatch and Jacob Hatch all of Burlington; great grandchildren, Colton Kerr of Snow Camp, Hayley Oliver of Hendersonville and two on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noble Felix Dabbs and Pearlie Mae Stone Dabbs and four brothers and six sisters. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bobby Fann and the burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
