Don Ratliff

Mebane - Don Lee Ratliff, 76, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at his residence. He was born on May 23, 1942 in Chatham County to the late James William Ratliff, Sr. and Katie Bynum Ratliff.

Don retired from the US Postal Service in Durham after 25+ years of service. He was a former employee with Western Electric, former security officer with the Hillsborough Correction Center and Alamance Regional Medical Center. He enjoyed working on cars, watching westerns and cop television shows. He was a loving family man who adored his children and grandchildren, who will be dearly missed.

Don is survived by his life partner, Daisy Millicent Jones; his wife, Janet Alston Ratliff; his children, Darin Ratliff, David Trotter and wife, Alisha, Antoine Ratliff, Shawn Ratliff and wife, Shannon, Katie Ratliff-Jones and Martin Ratliff-Jones; 7 grandchildren; sisters, Magaline Poteat Sellars, Patricia Ann Ratliff and Norma Jean Ratliff Hester; a brother, James "Jim" William Ratliff, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and his special caregiver, Nell Harrelson.

The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Friday, December 28, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jesse Lee Alston, Rev. Benjamin Morrow and Rev. Gary Williams, the burial will follow at Martins Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:45pm Friday prior to the service and other times at the residence.
