The most wonderful Mother in the world, Dolly Rea Simpson Buckner, 79, 2424 Dry Creek Lane, Burlington, was called to Heaven by her Lord on Thursday, June 25, 2015 surrounded by her adoring children, grandchildren, and family. "Our Dolly" was an amazing mother. If she could write this herself, she would tell you she had the five smartest, most beautiful, kind, and loving children...which might be debatable. Her love shined in us and all around us. Her love was fierce and strong, just like her personality. Although her health was failing for many years, she had perseverance and stamina, she was a fighter, a tough cookie, and when she got knocked down, she got right back up. A legacy she gave to her whole family. She was funny, loved to laugh, especially at herself, sweet, precious, thoughtful and unabashedly loved her family. We loved to call her "Dr. Dolly" because she could "prescribe" what we needed better than any physician with a real degree, she was also a meteorologist, she thought she knew what the weather would be before the news...she was usually correct! She loved to go boating at the beach, shop with her daughters, cook Sunday or weekday dinners and just spend time with her loves, her children and family. She grew up in "Punkin Center" Burlington to her parents Robert Harris Simpson and Swannie Thomas Simpson, both deceased. Her brother Robert Simpson "Uncle Orienton" and her sister Billie Sue Smith "Aunt Billie" also deceased, left us way too soon. We love and miss them all but are so comforted in knowing they are rejoicing together on the streets of gold! "Our Dolly" was a beautiful person on the inside and out and we thank God every day that she taught us Christian values, to treat others the way we would want to be treated, and to help others in need. Thank you Momma for the wonderful lessons you taught us. We will receive friends at the Lowe Funeral Home, 2205 S. Church Street, Burlington, on Sunday, June 28, from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. and at other times at her daughter's home, 1030 Trollingwood Road, Haw River. We will celebrate her life on Monday, June 29, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Lowe Funeral Home, Burlington by Reverend Bennie Smith, our "Uncle Bennie." We are devastated, our hearts are broken and our lives will never be the same. But our Momma and "Mammaw Dolly" would want us to be strong, to keep the bonds of love she gave us and to move forward with grace and compassion for others. We love you so much Momma!
