Dexter Shoffner

Gibsonville, NC Dexter Ridge Shoffner, age 59, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. Dexter was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Cecil Ridge Shoffner and Mildred "Mickey" Shockley Shoffner who survives. Dexter owned and operated Dexter Shoffner Bail Bonds, Inc. and formerly was the owner and operator of Hardbodies Gym in Gibsonville for over 18 years. Dexter was a founding board member of NC Bail Agents Association. He enjoyed power lifting and playing and coaching softball during his lifetime. Dexter was devoted to his family and the love of his life was his daughter, Amy. Survivors include his mother, Mildred "Mickey" S. Shoffner of Alamance; daughter, Amy Lynne Holt and special friend, Shannon Murrell of Gibsonville; sister, Gina Shoffner Foust and her husband, Larry DeWayne Foust of Burlington; niece, April Dawn Nichols and a father figure to Anthoney and Joy Millner and best friend "Big Dex" to Deva Lee. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Earl Shoffner and his father, Cecil Ridge Shoffner. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Foust. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at Dexter's home and at the home of his mother in the Village of Alamance.
