Gibsonville Delories Gerringer Sockwell, 84, passed away peacefully Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Hospice Home. A native of Guilford County, she was born July 16, 1925 to the late Andy Boston Gerringer and Annie Wyrick Gerringer and was married to the late John William Sockwell. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, "Dee" enjoyed farming, cooking, gardening and spending time at the beach with her friends. She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church in Gibsonville and was involved with the Lady's Auxiliary at Fire District 28, Triad Holstein Association and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Delories is survived by her son, Doug Sockwell and wife, Paulette of Gibsonville; daughter, Joyce S. Clemmer and husband, Lewis of Burlington; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; sister Bertha Scott; brothers, Roger Gerringer and George Mack Gerringer; and many special nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents; daughter, Georgie Carol Sockwell; sisters, Virgie Fryar, Eva McIntyre and Hazel Smith; brothers, Cling Gerringer, A.B. Gerringer, and Colon Gerringer. The funeral service will be held 11:00am Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Friedens Lutheran Church by Pastor Raymond Petrea and Pastor William Zima, II. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 3, 2010 from 6pm to 8pm at the church and at other times at the home. The family would like to extend their heartfelt acknowledgements to her doctor and the nurses and staff of UNC Health Care and Alamance Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friedens Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund at 6001 NC 61N, Gibsonville, NC 27249 or Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery Road Improvement at 6015 Friedens Church Rd., Gibsonville, NC 27249
