Deborah Allen

Deborah Hurdle Allen, age 68, died unexpectedly December 24, 2018 when her heart failed.
Born and raised in Burlington, she was the only child of Thomas J. and Norma Evans Hurdle, both also deceased. After graduating from Walter M. Williams High School in 1968, Debbie began her career as an administrative assistant for Western Electric. Later she was employed at AT&T's Guilford Center and retired in 2001 from the company when it was Lucent Technologies after many years of dedicated service.
Debbie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life - warm, kind, and loved by all who met her. She was talented, artistic, and crafty by nature. In her younger years she shared her angelic voice as a choir member at Davis Street UMC and her work chorale - she was honored to sing for numerous weddings and funerals over the years. She enjoyed many hobbies during her life: ceramics, macramé, cross-stitching, crocheting, painting, and sewing. Her sweet tooth drove her to bake and she especially loved making cookies for her children and grandchildren; festively decorated sugar cookies had become a favorite at birthday parties for her granddaughters. She was happiest spending time with her family.
She is the beloved mother and grandmother to survivors Bradford "Brad" Rimmer and wife Melissa of Burlington; Janie Rimmer Bourne and husband Bobby of La Crosse, VA - parents to her three beautiful granddaughters Ava (8), Emma (6), and Leah (6). A lover of animals, she always had a pet(s) - she also leaves behind her feline companion Feike.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 29, 2018 in the chapel of Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington, 2205 S. Church St., with interment at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 AM at the funeral home prior to the service.
