Dean Edward Sholl, 94, of Burlington, NC died on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Twin Lakes Community's Memory Care. He was born in Bellefonte, PA on August 21, 1924 to Boyd and Mary Margaret Sholl, both deceased. On July 22, 1949 he married Marjorie Mae Musser, who survives of the home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their 3 children: Judy Dulberg of Whitsett, NC; Curtis Sholl of Cleveland, OH; and Martha Sholl and her husband Mark Houser of Rochester, NY.
Dean was a 1942 graduate of Bellefonte High School and a veteran of World War II. He graduated from Penn State University in 1949 with a B.S. in Commerce and Finance. He was employed by National Gypsum Company for 21 years as plant office manager in their Des Moines, IA, Buffalo, NY and Bellefonte, PA plants. He then became business manager for WPSX-TV (now WPSU-TV) in Penn State University's Department of Continuing Education's Division of Broadcasting for 17 years until his retirement in 1987.
Dean was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elon, and was previously a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte, PA where he served on their Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, Sunday School teacher and church historian. He was also involved in numerous community activities in Bellefonte including president of the Bellefonte Chamber of Commerce, president of the Centre County Library board of directors, secretary for the Bellefonte Borough Planning Commission, and treasurer for the board of directors of Infant Evaluation Program. For many years he was an income tax preparer for the VITA program sponsored by the Volunteer Center of Centre County, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred and Boyd Wilson Sholl.
A memorial service, followed by a reception at Pepper Tree Café, will be held at May-Foley Chapel at Twin Lakes Community, Burlington, at a later date. Memorials may be made to Twin Lakes Memory Care, 3701 Wade Coble Drive, Burlington, NC 27215
