Dean Murray

GIBSONVILLE- Mr. Dean Byron Murray, age 65, of Friedens Church Rd., passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at his home following a lengthy illness.
A native of Guilford County, he was married for over 39 years to Devonah Hooper Murray who survives. He was preceded in death by his parents "Dee" and Irene Apple Murray.
Dean was a member of Bethel Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon and a Trustee. He was employed as a shop foreman for many years with E.F. Craven Co. and later with Mechanical Systems Co. Dean was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed races at Ace and Orange County Speedway, tinkering with cars and farm equipment and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Devonah Hooper Murray of the home; a brother, Rick Murray and wife, Joni, of Gibsonville; a nephew, Dylan Murray; and a niece, Danielle Sockwell and husband, John.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 30, 2016 at Bethel Christian Church, 595 Baynes Rd., Burlington, NC by Rev. Barry Lane, pastor. Interment will follow in the Bethel Christian Church Cemetery. Following the interment service, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro and also Betty Graves for the very special care given to Dean during his illness.
