Alvin Dean Allred, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at his home. A native of Alamance County, he was born July 25, 1951 to the late Clarence Haywood Allred and Ida Jacqueline Isley Allred and was the husband of 16 years to Karen Yvonne Fralix Allred.
Dean was a US Army Veteran. He owned and operated Allred Sock and Knitting Machine Company in Graham and was self-employed most of his career as a handyman. He was known for his hard work ethic and faithfully provided for his family. Dean was also an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; stepchildren, Megan and Matthew Simpson; step grandchildren, Morgan and Dillon Simpson; sisters, Judy Pruitt (Earnest) and Ann Holsonback; nephew, Robert Johnston (Genie); nieces, Kelly Teague (Trey) and Tillery Baker (Yance); great nieces and nephews, Addison and Evan Johnston, Abigail, Caroline and Riley Teague and Marley and Monroe Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Katy Allred and maternal grandparents, John Garmon and Lavona Isley.
A service to celebrate Dean’s life will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Reid Dickens. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:45 prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at his home.
