David Smith

David Willard Smith, 62, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Cleveland County to the late Rev. L.W. Smith and Lucy Bardwell who survives and was the husband of 42 years to Sharon "Polly" Faucette Smith who survives. David retired after 26 years with Food Lion. He enjoyed playing golf, cooking for family and friends and always put his family first. David was a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend and he will be missed dearly. Survivors other than his wife, Polly and his mother, Lucy includes a daughter, Mattie Anne Smith and fianc, Devin M. Clark; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Dr. Phil and Pamela Smith, Mark and Tonia Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Bill Currin, Lucindy and Mike Pittard; brother-in-law, Lowell Faucette and wife, Della; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, David Nicholas "Nick" Smith; his father, Rev. L. W. Smith and step-father, Tip Bardwell. A service to celebrate his life will be held 4:00 pm Monday, January 26, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dr. Terry Farmer and Rev. Dr. Phil Smith. A reception and visitation will follow the service at the funeral home and other times the family will be at the home.
