David Tomb, Sr.

David Shawn Tomb, Sr., 48, of Burlington died on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Hospice Home after a brief illness. He was born in Alamance County and was the son of the late Joseph William "Joe" Tomb and Mary Ellen Farthing Tomb, who survives. He was married for 21 years to Nita Tomb, also surviving. He was employed by AKG of America in Mebane and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of the home, children, David Shawn Tomb, Jr. of Graham, John Christopher Victoria Tomb of Burlington, Mandi Nicole Tomb and Alexander Michael Tomb, both of the home; sisters, Patricia Boggs of Burlington and Sandra Kirk Horne of Graham; brother, Mark Tomb of Burlington and his mother of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Joseph William Tomb, Jr. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Steve Tucker with interment to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at his mother's home, 914 Tucker St., Burlington.
