David Smith

Snow Hill- David Geoffrey Smith went to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 10, 2015. He was born in Bognor Regis, England on March 11, 1946. He came to the US as an infant and grew up in Snow Hill, NC, where his father was the doctor for Greene County. After graduating from college and working in the Philadelphia area, David owned paint and wallpaper stores in Wilmington and later in Greensboro. Upon retirement, he returned to Snow Hill, where he and his wife Joan were active in the community and Hull Road Church. Living in Snow Hill was one of the great joys of David's life. David was preceded in death by his parents Charles Gordon Smith and Mervyn Jarvis Smith, and his sister Elisabeth Smith Wilkinson. He is survived by his wife Joan Wimer Smith of Burlington, NC; stepsons Brantley Gasaway Katie of Lewisburg, PA and Kenneth "Sonny" Gasaway Whitley of Burlington, NC; granddaughters Eleanor, Kensley, Anna, and Carolyn; sister Anne Smith McGoogan Bill of Charlotte, NC; brothers Charles Smith Brook of Charlotte, NC and Malcolm Smith Susan of Greenville, NC; and brother-in-law Doug Wilkinson of Sanford, NC. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 15 at 10:00 am at Hull Road Original Free Will Baptist Church in Snow Hill, NC with pastor Leon Grubbs officiating.
