Mr. David Alva Chandler, age 84, of Burlington, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Alamance Health Care after several years of failing health. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Joseph Clifton Chandler and the late Martha Eunice Simpson Chandler Thompson and was married for over 58 years to Mrs. Gayle Dillard Chandler, who survives. David was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Idaho. Upon returning to Burlington, he was employed with Western-Electric, AT&T and Lucent Technologies until his retirement in 1995. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Chandler is survived by his wife of the home; four children, Debborah C. Burnett and husband, George, of Elephant Butte, NM, Sandra C. Glenn and husband, Mike, of Greer, SC, David J. Chandler and wife, Sue, of Boone, NC and Donald T. Chandler and wife, Kathy, of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, Stuart Glenn and wife, Kim, and Paige Glenn of Greer, SC, Justin and Taylor Chandler of Boone and Connor, Christopher and Allyse Chandler of Charlotte; and a brother, John C. Chandler and wife, Marrian, of Rocky Mount, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Howard W. Chandler. A private memorial service at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to a Childrens Aide organization of the givers choice.
