Burlington - Dapathana Lee Lewis "Mama Lovette" Lovette, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 15, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Forsyth County and was the daughter of the late William Lindsay and Addie Lee Brown Lewis. She would have celebrated seventy-seven years of marriage in April to her loving husband, Edward W. "Eddie" Lovette who survives. She was in fellowship at Ireland St. Chapel since the mid 1940's. She was the owner/operator of Lovette's Day Care for over 30 years where she was affectionately known as "Mama Lovette".
She is survived by her husband, Edward W. "Eddie" Lovette; son, Billy Lovette; daughters, Jane Lovette (Bob) Leonard, Debbie Lovette Turner; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and a special sister-in-law, Ruth Lovette. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Lovette, grandson, Brad Hatcher and brothers, Alvis, Lindsay-Barnes, Willard and Lavern Lewis.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Ireland Street Chapel by J. Eddie Schwartz, A.G. Sutton, Jr. and Larry Hughes with interment to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 PM Thursday prior to the service at the church.
