Danny McDaniel

Pittsboro-Danny Lamar McDaniel, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 16, 2016 at his home after several months of failing health. He was born in Chatham County on January 4, 1947 to the late John William "Bill" and Myrtle Christine Andrews McDaniel and was the husband of 25 years to Patricia "Trish" Yarbrough McDaniel.
Danny was a member of Hanks Chapel Church and faithfully served in the US Army from August 5, 1964 through August 4, 1966. Danny retired from UNC Hospital after 25 years of service. He was an outdoorsman and avid fishermen who enjoyed the country side of life. Danny was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of the home; daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Marie McDaniel Mitchell and husband, Clint of Pittsboro; son, Travis Lamar McDaniel, also of Pittsboro; Step Daughter, Theresa Dawn Lee of Sanford; brother, Norris Andrew McDaniel and wife Judy of Burlington and grandchildren, Mallory Mitchell, Ethan Mitchell, Autumn McDaniel, Dustin McDaniel, Cody McDaniel, Jesse McDaniel, Jonathan Jackson and Dalton Rattz. He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, David Benton and Caro "Grandma Scrap" Mann Andrews; paternal grandparents, McKinley and Nina McDaniel and a sister, Nancy Hudson. Those serving as pallbearers at Danny's funeral are his son, Travis McDaniel, grandsons, Dustin McDaniel and Dalton Rattz, Ralph Sanders, Frank Murray and Rod King. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Cody McDaniel, Jesse McDaniel and Ethan Mitchell.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 12:00 pm, Monday, December 19, 2016 at Hanks Chapel Church by Rev. Bob Wachs. The burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 10:00am - 11:45am prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
