Elon-Daniel Edward Todd, 80, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Duke University Medical Center after several months of failing health. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 20 years to Mourine Odongo Todd who survives.
Daniel retired after 45 years with the US Postal service; he was the postmaster for 20 years in Glen Raven, a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Air Force, a member of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Dan loved travelling exploring other cultures, he always said, he joined the military because he wanted to see what was beyond the ocean. He was passionate about gardening, cooking, sports (great NASCAR fan) and an avid reader, he was articulate, held the position of President for the American Postal workers for numerous years, received Airman of the Month-February 1966, volunteered and assisted teachers during school trips, always represented some neighbors at their children’s games when they were not able to, due to work or other commitments. He was very involved in church activities until when his health could not permit. Enjoyed music and was a choir member during his earlier years. The most important thing in his life was family, he took family very seriously. Any family member could always call on him and he was graceful about it, he spoiled his daughter Caitlyn with so much love. He was always the life of the party at family events.
