Dale Edwin Wolfe, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 17, 1941 in East Stroudsburg, PA to the late Glenn Edwin Wolfe and Isabel Eleanor Frankenfield Wolfe and was the husband of 51 years to the late Mary Eleanor Shultz Wolfe who died in 2013.
Dale retired after 30 years as an Environmental Consultant with TVA, Radian Corp. and Dames & Moore, and many others through the years. He was a former member of the Institute of Environmental Practice, Air & Waste Management Association, Carolina Air Pollution Control Association, Air Weather Reconnaissance Association and the American Legion. Dale was a 1964 graduate of Penn State University, a US Air Force veteran serving 10 years active duty, where part of his service was as a Hurricane Hunter, 9 years in the National Guard and 4 years in the Air Force Reserves. He was very honored to have served and protected his country. Dale enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, watching sports and was an avid Carolina Panthers fan and Penn State fan. Most of all Dale loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Lori W. Poland and husband Glen, James “Jim” Wolfe and wife Katherine, Lisa W. Hilton and Husband William; grandchildren, Dr. Elizabeth Wolfe-Meyer and husband Daniel, Andrew Wolfe, Austin Wolfe, Kayley Hoffman and husband Kurt, Paige Wilde and husband Spencer, Stephanie Hilton and Tim Hilton; great grandchildren, Declan Meyer, Nausica Meyer, Levi Hoffman, Aria Wilde, and Chloe Hoffman; his siblings, Dan Wolfe and wife Jaimie and Doug Wolfe and wife Amy; and his extended family, Janice Dean, Chris Shultz, Matthew Shultz, Mike Wolfe and Brian Wolfe. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a great grandson, Phoenix Meyer.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jacob Danieley and Rev. Cooper Short. The graveside service will be held in the afternoon at 2:00pm at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm Friday, August 16, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the residence.
