Burlington-Dale L. "Buckeye" Richardson, came into this world on January 29, 1927 in Stokes County the youngest son of the late Lula Harrison Richardson and James Ellis Richardson. He departed this world on January 1, 2018 where he always wanted to be in his home of 65 years of natural causes during his daily nap.
His family moved to Alamance County in the 1930's and he lived the rest of his life in the Friendship Community. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church since 1949. His professional career began in tobacco farming, textiles (Burlington Industries and Dan River) and owner/operator of Buckeye Grocery and Garden Center. He along with our Mother founded Buckeye Antiques and were antique dealers/importers most of his life and he took great pride in working with furniture to return it to its former glory and placing it in many homes up and down the Eastern Seaboard.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory three children, a daughter, Brenda Richardson Thacker Smith, Burlington, son, Steve (Jay) Richardson, Lutz, Florida, son, Larry Richardson, Greensboro; four grandchildren, Steve Richardson, John Richardson, Nathan Thacker and Johnathan Thacker and four great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews and special friends, Frances Grinstead and Peggy Meyers. The family would like to thank them for their love, care and support of our Father. He taught us all to love, show respect, and compassion for all people and most of all not to be judgmental of others in regards to race, religion, and socio-economic standing. He was proud of this and his families accomplishments and was quick to share his thoughts with them and anyone else who would lend an ear.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Clarice Stanley Richardson. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur (Janie) Richardson, Ester (Floyd Briggs and Grady Workman), Thelma (Percy) Carver, Joel (Cathleen) Richardson and Lillian (Robert Culbertson and Jay Roberts).
A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Thurman Horney and Rev. Alvin Horne.
