Curtis Pruitt

Chapel Hill-Curtis Hobert "Uncle Curt" Pruitt, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his home. He was born in Alamance County to the late Charlie Hobert Pruitt and Mary Lillian Shropshire Pruitt. He was the husband of 60 years to the late Helen Hall Pruitt.
Curtis retired from the US Department of State in Diplomatic service after 25 years. He traveled all over the world with the State Department for the security of our nation. Curtis was a 1955 graduate of Walter Williams High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He had many interest including being a Master Bee Keeper and Wood Worker. He shared his love of wood working as an instructor at Alamance Community College.
Survivors include his son, Thomas A. Pruitt and Shelley Barton of Eden and grandchildren, Laura Gwen McKusker of Stafford, VA, James Jeremiah Pruitt of King, Andrew Shawn Pruitt of Winston Salem, William Curtis Pruitt of King, NC; great grandsons, John Wayne McKusker and Tyler Pruitt; sisters, Delores (Ron) Beamon-Heroux of Mt. Airy, NC and Lorene Diggs of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and five sisters.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 11:00 am at Danview Cemetery in Eden with military honors provided by the US Army. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
