Heaven gained one of the most wonderful Fathers and PawPaws in this world. Currie Lee Lassiter, 92, was called to Heaven by the Lord on Sunday September 3, 2023.
PawPaw was a loving father and grandfather and will be truly missed by each of us.
Currie Lee was the loving husband of Bessie Lassiter who was waiting for him when he arrived at Heaven’s door. She was the love of his life for 65 years.
He was always a quiet and humble man who loved his family with all of his heart and would do anything for them. He was a hardworking and determined man and was employed with Burlington Industries Pioneer Plant for 45 years. He always loved working in his garden and riding his little red tractor. In his younger years, he had a love for golf. He was a member of Lakeview Civitan Club and worked many long hours helping to build the club house and ball field for the enjoyment of all of the children of the community.
He is survived by his loving children, Brenda (David) Wynne, Michael (Rhonda) Lassiter. His precious grandchildren, Dale (Amy) Mann, Mitch (Jennifer) Mann, Mary Catherine (Justin) Wicker. And the jewels that brought the smiles from him were his great grandchildren, Austin (Caitlin) Mann, McKayla (Jorrin) Mann, Maddux Mann, Londyn Mann, Ava Wicker, Charlotte Wicker and Great Great Granddaughter, McKinley Mann (little Bessie). His special caring and loving caregiver, Jan Phillips whom he loved dearly; sister, Carolyn Greer; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Lassiter, Barbara Saunders, Barbara Ann Thompson, Maggie Satterfield, Glenda Saunders and Peggy Pickard; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Swannie Lassiter; wife, Bessie; his infant daughter, Synthia Diane Lassiter; his brothers, Alfred Jr., John, Hal, Hulon Lassiter; sisters, Christine Rudd, Mary Bowman, Bettie Lou Cranford, Mattie Mae Self and Lois Porter.
We will celebrate his life on Thursday September 7, 2023 at 2PM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Reid Dickens. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45–1:45. At other times the family will be at the home.
We are heart broken and our lives will be forever changed. Dad would want us to be strong and keep the bond of love that he and mom gave us and move forward with love and compassion for others. We have so many precious memories to hold on to.
We love you so much Daddy “PawPaw” and will never forget the loving person that you were. Rest easy and we will see you one special day.
We would love to give special thanks to the amazing staff at Brookdale Memory Care and Hospice AuthoraCare.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a contribution to Hospice AuthoraCare at www.authoracare.org/give or Alzheimer’s Association Research at www.alz.org/research?form=alz_donate.
