Crafton Thomas Dawkins, age 81, of S. Mebane Street went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Chatham County and the husband of the late Pearl Morgan Dawkins. Crafton retired as a truck driver with Associated Transport and after retirement he worked for Mastercraft Casket Company in Graham for 10 years. He was a member of Nall Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was an avid hunter and a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine Cat Hudgins and her husband, Jack of Graham, Penny Reynolds and her husband, Harold of Nevada, Missouri; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Dawkins and his wife, Anita of Mebane, Dan Dawkins and his wife, Kim of Burlington and Steve Dawkins and his wife, Donna of Wilmington; twelve grandchilden and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, son, Anthony Alan Tony Dawkins; grandson, Sonny Dawkins; parents, Edgar and Bessie Staley Dawkins; two brothers and one sister. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Wade Cox, Rev. Danny Miles and Rev. Eddie Raymond the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
